Project Peace

Project PEACE—Promoting Education And Community Empowerment–is BCCP’s flagship initiative, which began after the violent, race-based murder of a young Black student from Brooklyn—continues to teach our students socio-emotional literacy in an effort to foster safe environments to process the real issues they face in their daily lives. Project PEACE allows students the opportunity to tackle social challenges associated with school and community life such as peer pressure, bullying, conflict resolution, social justice, and taking responsibility for their own education. We strive to ensure that our staff reflects the communities in which we operate and the youth we serve, facilitating a safe space to process, engage, and connect. With funding from the Brooklyn Community Foundation, we intend to explore more social justice projects of concern to our youth and the community.
